Saudi Arabia to develop 1,835-km tourist path

The Saudi Tourism Authority is looking to prepare the longest amusive tourist path in the country – stretching of 1,835 km – as part of its ambitious drive to promote domestic tourism, said a report.

The path would connect the kingdom’s south with the north through the western zone, starting from Abha and reaching Tabuk, passing through Al-Baha, Taif, Jeddah, Rabigh Economic City, Yanbu, and Umluj or vice versa, said a report in Saudi Gazette. The path is meant only for families and the duration of the single trip will take about two weeks for each family, it said.

The path comprises a set of programmes such as shopping, entertainment shows and outdoor activities.

This is part of STA’s tourism plan titled “Saudi Summer” that it wants to implement when the life returns normal after Covid-19, the report said. The plan targeted to promote the hotel and restaurant sectors by offering attractive discounts and different activities. There are also proposals to open small rest houses and farms inequality with the preventive measures and defensive protocols against coronavirus, it said.
