Arriyadh Development Authority is undertaking the construction of a bus transit system in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The project includes the construction of a bus transit system. It is being implemented in phases.
It comprises the construction of 21 bus rapid transit stations, 6,765 community bus stops seven pedestrian bridges, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of signals and safety systems, and the resettlement of 22km of road.
Saudi Arabia’s Alinma Bank has expanded a $232million finance to implement the project.
The first phase covers the southern part of Riyadh city with a total distance of 145km for both normal and dedicated lanes buses. The bus-only lanes covered by this phase are Old Al-Kharj Road, starting from the Second Industrial City until Prince Saad Bin Abdurrahman I Road, and Roads of Hamzah Bin Abdulmuttalib, Dirab, and Prince Muhammad Bin Abdurrahman I, in addition to 18 normal bus lines and other related residential districts lines.
The second phase covers the central part of Riyadh city, with a total length of 127km. The bus-only lanes covered by this phase are Salahuddin Al-Ayoubi Road from Prince Saad Bin Abdurrahman I Road to King Abdulaziz Road near the entrance to Riyadh Airbase, In addition to 12 ordinary bus lines and other related residential districts lines.
The third phase covers remaining bus lines mainly located in the northern part of Riyadh city, with a total distance of 175km. The bus-only lanes covered by this phase are King Abdulaziz Road from Salahuddin Al-Ayoubi Road to Prince Saud Bin Muhammad Bin Miqrin Road and Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street and Imam Al-Shafe’i Street, in addition to 12 ordinary bus lines and other related residential districts lines. It also covers Roads of Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz I, Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Muhammad, King Abdulaziz, and Salahuddin Al-Ayoubi and Roads of Prince Saad Bin Abdurrahman I, Salahuddin Al-Ayoubi, King Abdulaziz Road, Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Muhammad.
In Q2 2015, Saudi Constructioneers has been awarded the construction agreement of the first and second phases of the project with the scope of work comprises of civil, architectural, and electro-mechanical works as well as the site adaptation, the utility diversion, the traffic diversion/management.
On June 8, 2015, Yuksel Insaat A.S. was selected as a construction contractor for the third phase.
The total value of the contract for the three phases is $1,300 million out of which $508 million worth contract was assigned to Yuksel Insaat A.S.
Perkins + Will has been appointed as the architect and Dar Al-Handasah has been appointed as the design consultant by Saudi Constructioneers.
On December 8, 2016, Yuksel Insaat A.S. has signed a contract for the third phase.
On January 3, 2017, Yuksel received a contract for the third phase.
In May 2017, ADA awarded US$506 million contract to Yuksel and scope of work includes 34 stations, 1,353 community bus stops, and six pedestrian bridge.
Construction works are underway.
