Oman have awarded $654 million Adam Thumrait dualisation road project

Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications assigned project” Construction of three segments of the Adam-Thumrait dualization road – Part 3, 4 & 5”.

The total value of the signed contract is $654 million.

The total distance of the Adam to Thumrait Road project is around 717 km including Part 1 & 2 under construction.

The remaining distance for the proposed project is around 400Km and it is split into Parts 3, 4 & 5, which is to be built as a new two-lane road adjacent to the existing road. The new road together with the old road forms the 4-lane dual carriageway.

  • Adam – Thumrait, Part – 4 -135km

Adam – Thumrait Road, Part – 3 :

The Ministry signed the contract of value USD 192194770.36.

During January 2020, the Ministry received the offer from a total of eight bidders. Oman based Construction Company, Ghantoot Transport, and General Trading LLC has presented the lowest bid. (read more)

Part 3 includes the carriageway from Haima to Muqshin, of total road distance 132.5km.

It includes the construction of sixteen At-grade U-turns, service roads, 4 rest spot, 2 weigh stations, 21 lay bays, 8 emergency median openings, 22 ROP parking, approximately 115 reinforced concrete box culverts for over drainage and 88 pipe culverts for median drainage, median dame, and embankment protection.

Part 3 also includes the rebuild of existing road at wadi locations and removing part of the present road, protection works, and culverts, and providing new multi-cell box culverts at existing floodways locations.

Adam – Thumrait, Part – 4:

Ministry signed the deal of value USD 298771689.21. The Project has been assigned to Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG.

During January 2020, The Ministry got the proposals from a total of six bidders. Oman based Construction Company, Galfar Engineering and Contracting (GEC) has submitted the lowest bid.

Part 4 includes the construction of a new carriageway from Miqshin to Duka, of total road distance 135km.

It comprises the construction of 16 At-grade U-turns, service roads, 3 rest areas, 25 lay bys, 8 emergency median openings, 25 ROP parking, approximately 241 reinforced concrete box culverts for over drainage and 95 pipe culverts for median drainage, median dam, and embankment protection. Part 4 also comprises the reconstruction of existing road at wadi locations and removing part of the present road, protection works, and culverts, and providing new multi-cell box culverts at existing floodways locations.

Adam – Thumrait Road, Part – 5:

Ministry signed the contract of value USD $162140854.46.

During January 2020, The Ministry received the proposals from a total of 8 bidders. Oman Gulf Company has submitted the lowest bid.

Part 5 includes the carriageway from Duka to Thumrait, of total road distance 132.5km.

It comprises construction of 20 At-grade U-turns, service roads, 5 rest spot, 1 weigh station, 16 lay bays, 8 emergency median openings, 25 ROP parking, approximately. 101 reinforced concrete box culverts for over drainage and 110 pipe culverts for median10 pipe culverts for median drainage, median dam and embankment protection. Part 5 also includes the rebuild of existing road at wadi locations and removing part of the existing road, protection works, and culverts, and providing new multi-cell box culverts at existing floodways location. The project completion duration for each of the parts is three years apart from a 90-day mobilization period.

Parsons International & Company LLC is the consultant for the Ministry of Transport in the proposal and inspection of the Adam-Thumrait road dualization project.
