Oman and OPWP issued RFP for Manah Solar IPP

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP), a member of Nama Group, issued the tender for the growth of the second phase of OPWP’s renewables program, Manah 1 and Manh 2 Solar Independent power plant (IPP). Projects will be located adjacent to each other at a site in Manah, around 150 km from capital city of Oman, Muscat. every project will have a generation capacity between 500 MW to 600 MW. Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) revealed that each project will be assigned to a separate developer.
The two projects will be made, owned, and operated by the private sector and the scope of the projects comprises financing, procurement, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance. The revealed of Manah Solar Independent power plant (IPP) follows the successful tendering of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) first utility-scale solar Independent power plant (IPP) (Ibri II Solar project of capacity 500 MW), which was assigned in April 2019 with targeted commercial operation date of June 2021. Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) set the target of commercial operation of the two solar plants by the fourth quarter of 2022. The project will be built in 1200HA of the area. Once the projects commissioned, it is required that the CO2 offset will be 680,000 tons/annum. Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is advised by Synergy Consulting (financial adviser), DLA Piper (legal advisory), and Fichtner (technical advisory).
At present bid submission date is 07 December 2020. Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) already assigned the 400kV Grid station to the contractor to overleap the upcoming generated power. (read more)
