United Arab Emirates Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has collaborated with the Department of Town Planning and Survey, Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, and Sharjah Water and Electricity Authority for the launch of an infrastructure development project for the 10th industrial zone in the Northern Emirate.
According to a statement from SCCI, the new project is a pioneering initiative with the aim of reconstructing the whole area, providing the best services for people, and helping to promote Sharjah’s competitiveness.
According to the implementation contracts, the project will cover an area of 2.16 million sqm and will be built in 18-months by Sharjah Contracting and Khatib & Alami.
The contract also involves the establishment of a modern and advanced road network, the implementation of rainwater, lighting network, rehabilitation of sidewalks and parking lots as per the highest safety and security standards, the chairman stated. According to him, Sharjah’s industrial sector has been contributing to the emirate’s GDP and its economic dimensions to all segments of society or several decades now. Sharjah was and still is marked by the availability of specialized industrial cities for various industrial economic sectors, its geographical location, and its proximity to important ports and airports.
Al Owais was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the project held recently at the SCCI headquarters, in the presence of senior government officials. He added that under the guidance of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the facilities located on the project site will get a 50% reduction of service fees throughout the project implementation.
Sharjah’s industrial sector is the largest among the UAE emirates comprising 21 industrial zones accounting for about 45% of the industrial output of the United Arab Emirates, at a rate of 2800 industrial units.
