EDF & Jinko Power consortium submits lowest bid for Abu Dhabi’s 2GW Al-Dhafra Solar PV project

The United Arab Emirates, Emirates Water, and Electricity Company announce the bid results for its 2000MW Al-Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic Independent Power Producer project. A consortium led by France’s EDF and Jinko Power submitted the lowest rate for the project. The project located in the Al Dhafra Region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The consortium submitted a weighted levelised electricity cost tariff of $0.8732 cents/kWh and an evaluated weighted levelised electricity cost rate of $0.7934 cents /kWh. received rate $1.35 cents/kWh on a levelised electricity cost basis, which is around 44% lower than the rate set three years ago on the Noor Abu Dhabi project.

Marubeni, Total Solar – $1.0120 cents/kWh
Energie, Alfanar – $1.0743 cents/kWh
Softbank Energy, Eni – $1.2084 cents/kWh

Project’s scope of work included the financing, operation, construction, and maintenance of the solar plant, including installation of solar photovoltaic modules, inverters, connection to the transmission network, and associated facilities.
The successful developer will form a special purpose vehicle company in partnership with EWEC.
