Dodsal working on $404m Gulf projects

India’s Dodsal Group is executing several projects in power, energy, oil and gas sectors in the Gulf, worth $404 million, including four projects worth $130 million in the UAE.

The organisation, whose international operations are based in Dubai, is also eyeing major engineering, construction, plant and infrastructure projects in the region.

“We are going to complete a $23 million project for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) at the second phase of its 800MW K Station in Jebel Ali. We have got a $18 million contract for the 1,500MW Shuweihat Power Plant in April this year, to be completed in July 2003,” said Clarence Nunes, director of Dodsal. “We have been awarded a $33-million contract to build a 20 kilometre, 42” gas pipeline from Ruwais to Shuweihat in Abu Dhabi in March this year, to be completed in next January.

“Last month, we have began constructing a 180 kilometre and 24″ gas pipeline from Al Ain to Fujairah for Dolphin Energy at the cost of $56 million which is scheduled to end in August 2003.”

Vivek Prakash, director of the company said, Dodsal has witnessed a 100 per cent growth in business in 2002, over its performance last year.

“We have doubled our growth this year over 2001 and expect to grow by another 50 per cent in 2003 over the current year,” he said.

In Oman, Dodsal is completing its largest project in the region – a 700 kilometre long 24″ gas pipeline from Saih Nihada to Salalah, a project worth $189 million, to be completed in September this year. The project has been commissioned in August 2000 by Oman Gas Company. “Dodsal is also completing a $60 million project to set up a ethylene plant for Qatar Chemical Co this month.
